The local spatial development plan imposed and archetypal house with a pitched roof. The architects acquiesced by simplifying the mass and referring to a child’s drawing – several lines and a triangular roof with a chimney.

The suburbs of Torun, one of the oldest Polish cities, located in the north of the country and counting 200 thousand inhabitants, are no different from suburban areas of other Polish cities.
The predominant aesthetics is typical of vernacular residential development – ceramic tiles and walls finished in white plaster. In this context, the house designed by medusa group is particularly powerful. Using archetypal forms and materials, the architects succeeded in creating an innovative combination which gives a new dimension to the building. A metal roof without eaves, walls in raw concrete and windows of many sizes are an offspring of the initial idea of an abstract mass.

The entire layout is composed of a two-storied dwelling, extended by a pavilion containing a studio, and a frontal garage.
The limited space in the dwelling is open and organized on two levels. A system of passages and corridors provides for close contacts among the inhabitants while preserving an intimate character of particular zones. The interior aesthetics is created by the same materials which were used on the outside, such as prefabricated concrete.

Their color scheme gives the interior a neutral character, while wooden floors and ceiling elements soften its austerity. The novel formal and material solutions arouse curiosity, even controversy.
In the context, it contrasts with the surroundings, and its location makes for the powerful impact of the house.
